Former Senate President and Puwersa ng Masang Pilipino senatorial candidate Juan Ponce Enrile thanked Senator Manny Pacquiao for his endorsement during Enrile’s visit to General Santos on Tuesday.
“I am thankful for the endorsement of Senator Manny Pacquiao, the People’s Champ, for my candidacy to the Senate. He is a hero to me and to all Filipinos,” the veteran lawmaker said.
“As part of my campaign here in General Santos City, I met with Senator Pacquiao to discuss our common objectives. We are in agreement that the government should speed up its efforts in providing adequate water supply and energy for Filipinos as well as in scrutinizing the privatization of companies concerning public services,” the four-term senator said.
He added, “These are issues I intend to take up in the Senate.”
On his part, Pacquiao vowed the support of his local party for Enrile’s return for a fifth term in the Senate.
“Our local political party, People’s Champ Movement in (General Santos), Sarangani and South Cotabato will support Senator Enrile para maging senador siya ulit,” Pacquiao said.
Enrile held the position of Senate President from 2010 to 2013 and was Senate Minority Floor Leader from 2013 to 2016. Pacquiao was elected to the Senate in 2016.
