This after Mayor Herbert M. Bautista has signed an ordinance to develop a lot in Barangay San Bartolome as a socialized housing project for the benefit of the city’s informal settler families.

City Ordinance 2815-2019, introduced by Councilors Marivic Co-Pilar and Godofredo T. Liban II, states that the parcel of land in San Bartolome, measuring 920 square meters, previously owned by Avelina L. Osias, have been found suitable for socialized housing.

“It is now necessary for the Quezon City government to use the said parcel of land for a socialized housing project to solve the present urban poor dwelling problem of the city in accordance with the provisions of the Local Government Code of 1991 and Republic Act No. 7279, otherwise known as the Urban Development and Housing Act of 1992,” the ordinance reads.

The Housing, Community Development and Resettlement Department (HCDRD) will undertake social preparation selection and pre-qualification of beneficiaries of the project, as well as the processing of their loan documents.

The City Legal Department will be mandated to undertake necessary courses of action to transfer the titles of the subject properties to be under the QC government.

Meanwhile, the city’s Task Force Housing will prepare the project feasibility study, necessary plans, specifications, and other related documents for the successful implementation of the proposed socialized housing project on the property.

In another development, the QC government is set to procure 38 new emergency rescue vehicles for the use of the 38 barangays in District IV, as part of the city’s continuing disaster and emergency response and preparedness capability upgrade.

City Resolution 7712-2019, introduced by Councilors Marra C. Suntay and Godofredo T. Liban II, states that to support District IV barangays in the performance of their duties and functions, it is important to provide them with emergency rescue vehicles that will serve their residents.

Each rescue vehicle will be equipped with an emergency LED light bar with a siren, metal ax, plastic stretcher, and blood pressure monitor.

The QC government said the city’s barangays are the cornerstone in maintaining peace and order in the communities, as well as first responders in times of emergencies and calamities. “‹
