Shellfishes collected at San Pedro Bay in Western Samar, Lianga Bay in Surigao del Sur, and the coastal waters of Dauis and Tagbilaran City in Bohol are still positive for paralytic shellfish poison that is beyond the regulatory limit.
This is based on the latest laboratory results of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and local government units.
Moreover, Balite Bay, Mati City in Davao Oriental, and the coastal waters of Santa Maria in Davao Occidental are now positive for red tide toxin.
All types of shellfish and shrimp fry from these areas are not safe for human consumption, BFAR warned.
Fish, squids, shrimps, and crabs are safe, provided these are fresh and washed thoroughly, and internal organs are removed before cooking, the agency added.
Areas still safe from the toxic red tide are the coastal waters of Cavite, Las Pinas, Paranaque, Navotas, Bulacan and Bataan in Manila Bay; coastal waters of Bolonao, Anda, Alaminos, Sual and Wawa, Bani in Pangasinan; coastal waters of Pampanga;
Masinloc Bay in Zambales; costal waters of Milagros, Mandaon and Placer in Masbate; Juag Lagoon, Matnog and Sorsogon Batltnin Sorsogon; Honda and Puerto Princesa bays, Puerto Princesa City and coastal inner waters of Inner Malampaya Sounds, Taytay in Palawan;
