Planning on doing some long distance driving this Holy Week? Well you’re not the only one. Many Filipinos are already planning out-of-town trips with their loved ones. Plan your trip.
Remember, a lot of people will be on the road this Holy Week. Your trip will go more smoothly if you map out your trip in advance and plan ahead. Where are you going? What time do you need to leave? What route will you take? How many of you will be on the trip? If you’re the designated driver, part of planning is getting enough sleep before your trip and wearing loose, comfortable clothes to avoid discomfort.
Prepare your car for the long drive.
Before setting off on your trip, make sure that your vehicle is in tiptop shape. Check your car’s fluids, make sure that they are at their proper levels; ensure that all lights are working; brakes are in order; tires are in good condition, and that you have a full tank of gas. And of course on the day of your trip, make sure that everyone has their seatbelt on!
Pack accordingly.
Due to the nature of long drives, you need to make sure that you have everything you need for the trip. Some light snacks like biscuits or a sandwich can be a lifesaver on the road. Also, the summer heat can take its toll on you (and your car), so make sure both stay hydrated! Medicine like some motion sickness tablets and your first aid kit might come handy, too.
