The revival of the indigenous game is part of the provincial government’s Sulong Sarangani IP program aimed at reviving ancient sports and games, and bringing it back to the mainstream. Founded in 1992, the province is home to Blaan, Tagakaolo, Tboli lumad tribes, and the Maguindanaon, Maranao and Taosug Moro groups which are noted for their rich cultural heritage and diversity.
