Cabanatuan City—SM City Cabanatuan brought home the first-ever bronze statue among the 15 awards that SM received from the recent 29th Apolinario Mabini Awards held at Club Filipino in San Juan, Metro Manila on Dec. 3.
The awards were conferred by the Philippine Foundation for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled.
The Apolinario Mabini Awards are given to professionals and organizations that have distinguished themselves in their chosen fields of endeavor, or have rendered outstanding services to people with disabilities.
The award was named after one of the country’s foremost heroes, Apolinario Mabini, also known as the Sublime Paralytic.
Joanne Bondoc, SM Cabanatuan mall assistant manager, said SM keeps on improving its facilities for it to be beneficial to all customers including people with disabilities.
Bondoc said they have a lot of customers with special needs and that they are happy looking after them, enjoying their mall with convenience and peace.
“We still have things to improve but we appreciate that PFRD recognize our efforts. Our motivation to achieve the excellence is over flowing,” she said.
SM’s awards include Silver for SM Seaside City Cebu (Official); Bronze for SM City Cabanatuan Official, SM City Clark, SM City Cauayan, SM City BF Parañaque; SM Stores in Sucat, Cabanatuan, San Jose Del Monte, East Ortigas, Trece Martires and SM Supermarket in SM Seaside.
Special Awards were also given to SM City San Lazaro, SM City Rosario and SM Store in Makati.
One of the award highlights was the Mabini Presidential Recognition Award given to Hans Sy, Chairman of the Executive Committee of SM Prime Holdings, for his dedication and passion in promoting awareness and inclusion for persons with disabilities in the SM Malls.
“Thank you PFRD! We are humbled by these recognitions and share them with our PWD partners and the people of the communities that we serve,” Bondoc said.
