Blue Dragons unbeaten in 8 Fr. Martin Cup games

The defending champion Diliman College Blue Dragons demolished the San Beda Red Lions, 91-71, to stay unbeaten after eight games last Sunday in the senior division semifinals of 16th Fr. Martin Cup Division 2 basketball tournament.

Kevine Gandjeto fired a game-high 16 points for the Blue Dragons in posting their eighth straight win at the St. Placid gymnasium of the San Beda University-Manila campus in Mendiola.

The Blue Dragons earned a chance to go for a second straight crown in this senior division. This time, they will face the Letran Knights.

Commissioner Robert de la Rosa has set a 12 noon showdown between the Blue Dragons and the Knights.

The Knights arranged a finals showdown with the Blue Dragons after they prevailed over the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa Marshalls, 94-80.

In the junior division semis, Ymard Urbano made 18 points for the La Consolacion College-Manila Baby Blue Royals in their 105-78 toppling of Paco Citizens Academy Foundation.

The Baby Blue Royals advanced to the finals against First City Providential College of Bulacan, which won over St. Joseph-Bulacan, 101-93.

They will clash in a winner-take-all champion match today at 10:30 a.m.

Theo Pabico hit 24 points, while John Matthew Bravo tallied 22 points for FCPC.

Kevin Coquia shot 23 points for the Blue Dragons when they eased out Pasig Catholic College, 96-80, in the quarterfinals.

The Red Lions earned a semis berth after they got past the LCCM Blue Royals, 75-71, while PCC won over University of Perpetual Help-Molino, 88-84, and the PLMUN Marshalls won by default over the Arellano University Chiefs.
