Baguio City—Another landslide in Ifugao province claimed the life of a 68-year-old man after it engulfed his house on Sunday evening, police said.
The body of Felipe B. Patawon was retrieved by police and volunteers after the landslide buried his house in Sitio Panalngan, Bocos, Banaue, Ifugao at around 10 pm Sunday.
Patawon is the second to die in the province following landslides in the wake of Typhoon “Ompong.”
On Sept. 29, Jeffrey Calhi Bayawa died after the payloader the 47-year-old was operating fell into a 30-meter ravine in Eheb, Tinoc town. Rescuers took more than four hours to recover Bayawa’s body.
The machine operator was clearing the slide at the barangay road when the road shoulder collapsed, causing the payloader to fall into the ravine.
