Davao Cocolife slotman Mark Yee posted a career-high in scoring to power the Tigers to an 82-62 demolition of the Caloocan Supremos in the elimination round of 2018 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League [MPBL] Datu Cup at the Caloocan City Gym recently.
The ex-pro Yee, a prized catch of team owner Claudine Bautista of the Davao LGU, backed by Cocolife president Elmo Nobleza, FVP Joseph Ronquillo and AVP Rowena Asnan, ignited his scoring spree in the second quarter and finished the game with a career-high 29 points for the Tigers’ one-sided victory.
Yee was named Best Player of the Game.
PBA veterans Leo Najorda, who drilled four three point shots, and Bonbon Custodio, who displayed his court generalship, to go with Eman Calo and Billy Ray Robles’ potent offensive thrusts, blew away the home team to establish their second spot in team standings in the south division of the league organized by Sen. Manny Pacquiao.
The Muntinlupa Cagers lead the standings, 8-0.
Supremos Rene Pacquiao, Jess Villahermosa and Joseph Nalus led their team’s cause as they dropped to a 2-8 win-loss record.
“Mark [Yee] sparked the blowout, but it was a team effort as a whole. They took care the lead for our inspiring seventh win,” said Tigers’ coach Don Dulay.
