This time, the Falcons will get to see how far they can go when they battle it out with the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons at 4 p.m. today at the FilOil-Flying Sports Center in San Juan.

Beating the Fighting Maroons will allow the Falcons to continue their romp in the 81st University Athletic Association of the Philippines men’s basketball tournament.

Bench depth and second unit players who can step up are among the things that the Falcons are proud of in the present campaign.

“One thing I could say, my bench players proved that they’re capable of stepping up,” said Falcons’ coach Pumaren.

Among the veterans who are bringing in the numbers are Jerrick Ahanmisi, Sean Manganti, Jonathan Espeleta and Papi Sarr.

Ahanmisi leads the pack with his average of 20 points and 3.3 rebounds.

Against the Growling Tigers, Ahanmisi finished with a team-high 20.

The Fighting Maroons are reeling from a 73-89 setback to the Far Eastern University Tamaraws.

Earlier, the Ateneo Blue Eagles meet the University of the East Warriors at 1 p.m.

The Blue Eagles (2-1) are going for their third consecutive triumph, with Thirdy Ravena, Matt Nieto and Anton Asistio among those expected to provide leadership on the floor.

A 75-70 win over the National University Bulldogs last Saturday is keeping the Blue Eagles’ fighting spirits up.

On the other hand, the Warriors are struggling from three consecutive defeats, including their recent 72-82 loss to the La Salle Green Archers.”‹
