SunPIOLOgy goes regional as it brings its run leg to four Asian cities while holding three other sports to highlight its milestone 10th year.
The bike leg, Sun Life Cycle PH, will kick off what is now a three-part event dubbed “SunPIOLOgy Tr10” at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig on Nov. 17 followed by the Manila edition of the Sun Life Resolution Run. It will be spiced up by the Sun vs Stars, which will pit Sun Life employees against Star Magic artists in badminton, volleyball and basketball on Jan. 26 at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.
“Not a lot of people are into running or riding so we want to be able to cater to people who are into other sports. Since this is a basketball-playing country, we have that sport and also volleyball and badminton. We want to be able to get more people to join us in our events,” said SunPIOLOgy founder actor Piolo Pascual, during the press launch at the Novotel Manila in Quezon City Monday night.
Around 1,200 biking beginners and enthusiasts aged two and above are expected to join the Sun Life Cycle PH friendly ride in three categories – the Kids Ride, Short Ride (20K) and Long Ride (40K) around Taguig, Makati, Manila and Pasay, while also enjoying the presence of three-time Tour de France green jersey winner Robbie McEwen anew.
Meanwhile, the Sun Life Resolution Run expects to attract more than 3,000 participants in its five divisions – the 500m dash for kids, 500m walk for adults and senior citizens and the 3k, 5k and 10k distances at Camp Aguinaldo.
The run event aims to raise funds for Hebreo Foundation, Institute for Studies on Diabetes Foundation, Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation Philippines and the Star Magic scholars.
Aside from its Manila staging, the Sun Life Resolution Run will also be held in Malaysia (Jan. 13), Indonesia (Jan. 20), Hong Kong (Jan. 27) and Vietnam (Jan. 27) with the goal of kicking diabetes and encouraging people to live healthier lives.
The Sun vs Stars will be held in the morning of Jan. 26, with the games streamed live on @sunlifeph for fans to enjoy.
“In the same way that it is hard for people to get started on their financial journey, sometimes it’s also hard for people to get started on their health journey. But we believe that the best way or the secret of getting ahead is to really just get started,” said Mylene Lopa, chief marketing officer of organizer Sun Life.
