After long hours of grueling competition, Team Kuago ruled the recent Ninja 100 Team Challenge Asia, which featured head-to-head races covering eight obstacles on a 100-meter course.

It’s the first obstacle course race team event in Asia, and organizers led by Ninja 100 founder Noel Agra are even looking at a “longer, better and tougher” Ninja 300 by yearend.

A total of 37 teams of three members each (two male and one female) vied in the event that caught the attention of the weekend crowd at Bonifacio High Street at BGC.

The course, which featured obstacles that were designed only for the fittest athletes, brought out the best from the competitors, both local and foreign.

Team Kuago, composed of Nate Sanchez and Jennifer Gabriel of Davao City, and Charles Or of Manila, defeated Team Trojan in a thrilling finale.

Sanchez, a 29-year-old CrossFit athlete, electrified the crowd with his style, strength and agility during the event sanctioned by the Pilipinas Obstacle Course Federation, headed by Atty. Al Agra.

To typify the level of difficulty of the course, only three men made it to the top of the eighth and last obstacle, the 12-foot wave wall.

“This is tougher that other obstacle races because it’s one obstacle after another, with no runs. It was very difficult to recover,” said Sanchez.

Among the teams that made it to the closing stages of the competition were Beast Force, ABC 3, H2O Blue, Guerero and World Pull-Up Day.
