The Davao Occidental Cocolife team will go home with another win.

The Tigers of Mindanao owned by Claudine Bautista of the Davao Occidental LGU, backed by Cocolife President Elmo Nobleza, FVP Joseph Ronquillo and AVP  Rowena Asnan, shot the lights off to trounce the Pampanga Lanterns, 82-77, at the Alonte Sports Center in Sta. Rosa, Laguna over the weekend.

With the win, Cocolife boosted their bid in the ongoing 2018 Maharlika Pilipiinas Basketball League-Datu Cup.

Former PBA standouts Bonbon Custodio and Leo Najorda, along with prized catch Billy Robles, joined forces to hand their team the much-needed victory, which improved its chances in the league organized by Senator Manny Pacquiao.

Pampanga’s sweet-shooting Michael Juico and Jerry Nacpil  scored 25 and 13 each, respectively, as they gallantly fought for the Lanterns, but to no avail.

Pampanga absorbed its fourth setback in seven games, while Davao Occidental savored its fourth victory in seven outings to remain in the hunt in the MPBL.

The Davao squad, managed by Bhong Baribat and Ray Alao, with coach Don Dulay calling the shots, will face a formidable Valenzuela squad in Davao City on Aug.  30 in the next stage, dubbed as ‘MPBL South Invasion’ in Davao City.
