Senator Cynthia A. Villar, chairman of the Senate agriculture and food committee, drops fingerlings at the Vintahanan Lakefront in Laguna to demonstrate the need to boost the aquaculture sector or fish farming in the country. Officials from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources joined Villar in a bid to stem the significant drop in the country’s total fisheries production. The senator’s Villar SIPAG Foundation, in coordination with BFAR, has been training trainers on freshwater aquaculture.
