The styles from the past decades continue to play a major part in today’s fashion, so much so that a clothing brand dubs the fall/winter, the “Newstalgic” season.
Bershka takes standout trends from the past and gives them a fresh spin. From the high-octane colors of the ‘80s to oversized styles of the ‘90s blurred with the 2000s; from backward heritage checks to classic sportswear; and from traditional fabrics to high-tech, it all adds up to a very exciting new season.
For her
Collection for women includes pieces with distinct influences of the ‘60s and ‘70s. From the ‘60s there are colored checks, retro stripes, floral prints, and pops of color. Contributions of the ‘70s, on the other hand, are flared shapes and geometric patterns.
Pastels are also big this season, with sorbet colors across standout items such as faux fur and mix-and-match separates.
Downtown dressing mixes up retro sports items such as revamped joggers and jackets that can double down from day to night. While sportswear featuring the classic skate and sports brands as well as utility brands from the ‘80s and ‘90s is also having its time under the spotlight.
The all-over logo look is also having a resurgence with classic logos and prints. Animal prints and acid colors are also big.
Fabrics are varied this season. Screaming-neon, tech, transparent, chiffon, sheer, velvet, and shiny fabrics, among others from the ‘80s; as well as textured fabrics such as faux fur, shearling, corduroy, and knitwear comprise the collection.
Western details such as fringes, studs, and embroidery—popular in the ‘90s—are seen on statement jackets and accessories such as boots and belts.
Finally, the “Newstalgic” season highlights looks that are off-balanced, asymmetric, oversized, and ultra-fitted—anything that looks offbeat.
For him
Casual sportswear continues to dominate menswear this season. Bershka’s collection is made for guys who want a fresh and understated look.
The silhouette goes large and unstructured with layers making up the standout looks. Fabrics keep it fresh by mixing up sporty nylons with rich, plush textures such as shearling and cord.
Oversized nylon jacket, puffa jackets in standout colors, and utility jackets in colored denim with contrast stitching form part of the outerwear line.
Other winning pieces such as the rugby polo and an updated jogger put a cool spin on collegiate. Denim comes clean this season with white and clean black skinny jeans.
Smart pants get an update, with textured checks and striped trousers feature strongly. Other key items such as textured jersey tees, over-shirts, and workwear details strike the right balance between smart and casual.
Finally, going out means going large on winter prints in plush and textured bases such as jacquards and silk-like mixes.
In the Philippines, Bershka is located at Glorietta 2, SM Aura Premier, Mega Fashion Hall, and Ayala Center Cebu.
