What happens when a champion team is still not satisfied of its haul? More titles.
That seems to be the battlecry of the Golden State Warriors through the eyes of their superstar player Kevin Durant, who is in the country to promote his latest shoe, the KD 11, and shared his insights during a press conference, Sunday, at Whitespace in Makati.
The back-to-back Finals’ Most Valuable Player , who averaged 28.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 2.00 blocks during the 2018 NBA Finals, spread the word of commitment to the game and his belief of giving one’s relentless focus.
“We’re still not satisfied, we’ve got a way long to go,” Durant said. “We never talk about the championship until we actually have a chance to get it.”
And they may yet get another one, with the acquisition of All-Star DeMarcus Cousins, formerly of the New Orleans Pelicans.
“I think it is going to be fun year for us,” said Durant of Cousins’ coming.
Asked on his thoughts about how the other NBA teams are building their super teams to beat GSW, Durant said: “I think it is great for the league. It is a great time to be a basketball player. I’m just trying to stay at the moment as much as possible.”
Durant and Leo Cheng, the designer of his KD shoes, also presented to the media the newest addition to his Nike shoe collection, the KD 11.
After the conference, Durant headed to the Smart Araneta Coliseum to train selected Nike coaches and collegiate players, teaching them his skills in an event dubbed “KD Hyper Court Team All-Star Challenge.”
The KD 11 “Still KD” was launched at selected outlets on July 1, while limited quantities of the KD 11 “Peach Jam” was released exclusively at Titan Park Fort and Nike Park Fort on July 8.
