Subic Bay Freeport—Responding to the call for “malasakit” from the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, Redondo Peninsula Energy joined the Subic Bay Community in a clean-up drive here on Friday.

The onset of heavy rains for the past weeks has caused a lot of trash to be lodged along the bay, which is not a good sight for Subic Bay Freeport Zone as a rising cruise ship destination.

“I have always been amazed by how volunteerism has helped shaped the SBMA of today. It is the kind of culture that is needed for us to solve our interconnected problems,” said Jason Gavina, Corporate Social Responsibility officer of RP Energy.

Aside from SBMA employees, the cleanup drive also attracted other companies here in the Freeport, environmentalists, and volunteers.

RP Energy is the developer of a 2×300 MW coal-fired power plant in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
