SMC says elevated skyway done by 2020

The tollway unit of San Miguel Corp. plans to complete an elevated expressway linking South Luzon Expressway and North Luzon Expressway by 2020.

SMC Tollways president and chief executive Manuel Bonoan said the company aimed to complete the P26.7-billion Skyway Stage 3 project by 2020, one year behind the original target of 2019.

Bonoan blamed the delay to the slow delivery of right-of-way solutions to the project. The project is 33-percent completed.

“It would take about two years to complete the project,” he said.

Skyway Stage 3 is a 14.82-kilometer, six-lane elevated expressway that will extend the elevated skyway from Buendia to Balintawak and link the SLEx and NLEx.

The project aims to decongest major thoroughfares, including Edsa, while creating new transport routes.
