National Grid Corp. of the Philippines is committed to complete the much-anticipated P52 billion Mindanao-Visayas Interconnection project by 2020 following the declaration of the cable link as an energy project of national significance under Executive Order No. 30.
“We are thankful for this development. NGCP emphasizes the importance of this milestone project and we are determined to make our 2020 December commitment,” NGCP said.
The grid operator said the declaration would help the company achieve its 2020 completion goal.
The MVIP (formerly Visayas-Mindanao Interconnection Project) recently received a Certificate of Energy Project of National Significance from the Energy Department, the lead agency of EO 30.
“The project is in compliant with the requirements of the Philippine Energy Plan and is in accordance with the policy thrusts and goals of PEP,” the Energy Investment Coordinating Council said.
