CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna—Regional police presented a total of 765 assorted firearms confiscated as part of the gun ban for the 2018 barangay elections on Monday at the Multi-Purpose Center at this camp in Calamba City.
“After this presentation, we hope no one else is involved the illegal firearms incidents for this coming SK [Sangguniang Kabataan] and barangay election,” Calabarzon police Regional Director Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar said.
“We will never tolerate the 150 [arrested] for this operation. If this is not a legitimate operation, I’ll be the one to file the case, but all of this is a result of the good effort of our men in uniform,” Eleazar added.
All arms confiscated was presented to the court, and after the election the firearms will be returned to the owners after they present legal documents, the police director added.
Eleazar added six barangay chairman and three barangay kagawad in Calabarzon are also on the regional drug watchlist and they will be under monitoring by the Philippine National Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
“Will continue to monitor the high-value targets involved in drugs,” he added.
