QUEZON City Mayor Herbert Bautista on Wednesday ordered the Quezon City Police District to beef up its security preparations for the upcoming barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on May 14.
Bautista was the host of the Regional Joint Security Coordinating Council composed of officials of the National Capital Region Police Office and Commission on Elections yesterday.
The effort was to ensure an orderly and peaceful conduct of the May local polls, he said.
Also present were incoming Philippine National Police chief Oscar Albayalde, Quezon City Police District Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, and representatives from the Department of Interior and Local Government.
Bautista is the chairperson of the Regional Peace and Order Council in Metro Manila.
He described the council meeting as necessary to assess the security needs for the May 14 polls, especially in Metro Manila.
