THE championship of the 2018 Philippine Basketball Association might still be in the balance but the Best Player of the Conference is most certainly not.
Four-time reigning Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo is a shoo-in to make history in a few days.
The dominant behemoth of San Miguel is a cinch to win a record sixth BPC award in a couple of days.
Once again, Fajardo is head and shoulders above anyone else in the race for the top individual award of the tournament.
With no one close, he is set to receive yet another accolade prior to Game 4 of the Philippine Cup finals this Wednesday.
While his focus is on leading his team win a fourth straight Philippine Cup jewel, Fajardo is still grateful for yet another pending accomplishment in his already storied PBA career.
“Siyempre priority naman talaga is makakuha ulit ng championship pero masaya rin kung sakali man mag Best Player ulit,” said the soft-spoken Cebu native. “Magandang bonus din.”
With this impending win, Fajardo is set to surpass his mentor Danny Ildefonso as the player with the most number of BPC wins in history.
Currently, the two are tied with five apiece and a sixth for Fajardo will move him up over the two-time MVP.
With the BPC plum virtually decided, the finals of the Philippine Cup isn’t.
Currently tied at 1-1 in the best-of-seven finale, protagonists San Miguel and Magnolia are both looking to gain a vital edge.
The finalists are currently locking horns in Game 3 as of this report.
