NV BFP ups fire code fee collection

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya—The Bureau of Fire Prevention here has increased its collection for the fourth quarter last year compared to the same period in 2016.

In a report during the recent Provincial Peace and Order Council and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council at the FTM Restaurant here, Apolonio Diaz, provincial fire marshal, said the agency collected more than P400,000 last year compared to just P179,000 in fire code fees in 2016.

“This was attributed to the increasing number of compliance among stakeholders on the Fire Code law in our province,” he said.

Diaz also said they have intensified their other fire prevention activities in the province which resulted in the conduct of 51 lecture and fire drills, organization of 51 kiddie/junior fire marshals, 126 Ugnayan sa Barangay and organization and training of 3 volunteer fire brigades during the fourth quarter of 2017.

The BFP, Diaz added, also conducted 623 fire safety inspections during the period, particularly on public assemblies, educational, health care, correctional, residential, mercantile, business, industrial, storage, mixed and other establishments.

“Our fire safety inspections in the last quarter of 2017 was higher compared to the 524 activities conducted during the same period in 2016,” he said.

Diaz also said there were 586 safety inspection certificates issued, four notices to comply, 53 building plans evaluated, and 568 business permits processed during the same period last year.
