Catherine Cavilte, one of the Philippines’ promising bridal couturiers, has launched her Fall 2017 collection dubbed as Krustallos at the recently held Tadhana 2017 fashion show gala at The Manila Hotel.

Tadhana 2017 is a luxe bridal exhibition organized to celebrate exquisite Filipino talents through luxurious bridal tablescapes by the country’s top event stylists and a gala fashion show featuring Wedding Essentials Magazine’s chosen bridal designers. Manila’s glitterati witnessed out-of-the-ordinary bridal fashion presentations by seven bridal designers at The Tent City at The Manila Hotel recently.

Opening the show was Cavilte’s Krustallos collection, a selection of seven intricately designed couture offerings for the unconventional bride. Inspired by the fantastical textures of nature’s crystals, each bridal gown exudes wonderment that large crystals bring—be it snowflakes, diamonds or table salt. The collection’s name Krustallos, the Greek word from which the term crystal was derived from, perfectly embodies the magic that each bridal couture piece represents in a woman’s nerve-wracking yet life-changing phase of her life.

“I love playing up with textures inspired by natur. Crystals could be seen as icy, yet magical. I want this collection to show one of nature’s quiet miracles—the forming of crystals from ice. I want this collection to be just that to a bride—a calming yet magical phase in her life represented by her wedding dress. I want this collection to be seen as whimsical and magical,” Cavilte shared.

Cavilte has always been dubbed by the local fashion media as the next it-bridal couturier. Her love for fashion started early on, which made her pursue a Fashion Design course while completing a college degree in Computer Application during her college days in St. Benilde. After earning her fashion design degree in Fashion Institute of the Philippines, she’s bent on enhancing her fashion know-how through frequent travels abroad. It was not long after that she allowed herself to immerse in the business and slowly worked her way into the industry.

Young, fresh, and bold—that’s what made the fashion luminaries take notice when she was placed under the fashion radar for the first time. She was selected as one of the finalists of MEGA Young Designers Competition in 2004 and that became her launch pad as she was ushered into the scene. Her clientele started to grow, with celebrities and noted personalities decking themselves with her pieces. In 2007, she landed the pages of Preview Magazine and joined the roster of “12 Designers to Watch Out”. Her passion and creative flair continued to set things in motion when she was handpicked as one of MEGA Magazine’s “Women to Watch” in 2009. That same year, she also graced the runway of Australian Fashion Week coupled with rave reviews. To say that Catherine Cavilte was on a roll would be an understatement.

With brands keeping their eyes peeled on the next-best-things in fashion, it was sooner than later that Cavilte started venturing into business and at the same time, sharing her fashion ingenuity to retail giants such as Memo, Folded and Hung, and Jellybean. With more than a decade of experience, she became a force to be reckoned with that eventually made her design sensibilities and business acumen her strengths. Her body of work extends from tasteful couture pieces and ready-to-wear essentials to bridal wear and evening wear.

She lends a modern approach to a woman’s dream wedding dress yet remain true to her style vision. Her designs continue to be a breath of fresh air and she intends to take her brand into greater heights as she envisions new ways to innovate. Clearly, she has found the passion and calling that she worked hard for all these years. After all, fashion is an industry where she thrives and Catherine Cavilte always means business.

Cavilte’s designs feature intricate details and feminine style

Cavilte’s aesthetics are for the brides who are not afraid to go beyond the style norms. The intricate yet wearable details of her masterpieces are effortlessly scene-stealing yet feminine and modest, making a bride’s day even more unforgettable fashion-wise. Catherine Cavilte’s Fall 2017 Krustallos Collection is another proof that fusing polarities may be a feat for many, but not for Catherine Cavilte who can do it with ease. Staying true to her style DNA of feminine and eclectic aesthetics, one can see that she effortlessly marries astounding creativity with wearability. Her delicate craftsmanship is evident in the way she executes her design in mind – may it be teeming with ornate opulence or classic sophistication. Her creations pack a punch and one is assured that every design execution carries a synergy of the wearer’s personality and Catherine’s signature style.

“For this collection, I used the ’embossed hand-beaded technique’ in each piece. I’ve used 3D flower patches and embroideries too to add a more feminine touch into the collection. I’ve added tassel details to inject modern trends too,” Catherine added.

If you’re a bride whose dream for your wedding day is to be anything but ordinarily stylish, Catherine Cavilte may just be the perfect designer to capture your wedding fashion sense. Your wedding dress could be as unconventionally dreamy or magical as you want it to be with Catherine Cavilte’s aesthetics.
