Manila to host K-Pop’s Golden Disc Awards

South Korea’s own version of the Grammys called Golden Disc Awards (GDA) will be held for the first time in Manila on Jan. 10 to Jan. 11, 2018 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

 Local promoter All Access Production made the announcement on Thursday via its official Facebook page.

The final line-up, as well as the nominees and hosts of the event, have yet to be announced but around 24 K-pop stars and music acts are expected to grace the big event. 

GDA was first held outside South Korea in 2012 when it was held at the Osaka Dome in Japan. The following year, it was staged in Sepang International Circuit in Kuala Lumpur and in 2015 at MasterCard Center in Beijing. 

First held in 1986, the GDA has been dubbed, according to its official website, “The Most Favored Awards by K-pop Artists.” It is presented annually by the Music Industry Association of Korea for outstanding achievements in the music industry in the country. Originally called the Korea Visual and Records Grand Prize Award, its name was changed to the Golden Disc Awards in 2001.
