Two programs of PLDT wireless unit Smart Communications Inc. recently received awards from the International Public Relations Association for meeting global standards of excellence.
At the Golden World Awards ceremony held in Bulgaria, Smart won in the healthcare category for SHINE OS+ (Secured Health Information Network and Exchange) and in the event management category for TNT Super Panalo Day.
Other GWA awardees included companies from the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, Australia and the United States. Established in 1990, the GWA is organized annually by the IPRA, a professional association for senior international PR executives.
SHINE OS+ is an electronic medical record and referral system run by Smart and the Ateneo Java Wireless Competency Center. Launched in 2011, it enables public health facilities in Cebu, Iloilo, and Quezon City to retrieve patient records with a few clicks on a laptop, refer patients to better-equipped health facilities electronically, and remind patients of appointments and medication via SMS.
Furthermore, SHINE OS+ allows these health facilities to submit relevant patient information to Philippine Health Insurance Corp. for faster processing of claims and health statistics.
Being an open-source platform, SHINE OS+ allows developers from anywhere in the country and the world to create additional features that can fill more gaps in the health sector. It does this while keeping patient records private.
Meanwhile, TNT Super Panalo Day was a thanksgiving event held in February 2016 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena for loyal and new customers of TNT, the value brand of Smart. It was meant to celebrate two TNT milestones—its 15-year legacy of empowering Filipinos with affordable call and text promos; and its digital shift into offering mobile internet services.
