EXPECT the upcoming 2017 Philippine Basketball Association Draft to be deep and full of talent.
Most of the country’s top amateur stars have already declared for the pros, making the draft an interesting event.
A month after Filipino-German national player Christian Standhardinger applied for the draft, other top amateur prospects followed suit right away.
Just last Monday, top dogs Kiefer Ravena and Jeron Teng, two of the country’s most sought-after amateur players, shared that they are both pro-bound and are ready to take their talents to the country’s top pro league.
“This is my dream all along. I want to follow my dad’s footsteps and play in the PBA,” said Teng, who delivered two championships to La Salle in his storied stint there.
Ravena, a two-time UAAP Most Valuable Player while playing for Ateneo, declared for the draft via his Twitter account, finally answering the queries on when he will turn pro.
Standhardinger, Ravena and Teng are projected by many to be the top three picks in the draft.
Aside from those three marquee names, other top aspirants who already joined the draft are Fil-Ams Davon Potts from San Beda and Jason Perkins from La Salle.
Athletic wingman Rey Nambatac from Letran and Gilas Pilipinas cager Raymar Jose from FEU are also intriguing prospects.
Notably missing from the batch is Bobby Ray Parks Jr.
As of this time, Parks hasn’t declared for the draft and seems to be focused on bannering Alab Pilipinas in the Asean Basketball League.
