Ricky Cuenca, president of the Couples for Christ- Answering the Call of the Poor and member of the CFC Global Foundation International Council, also approved 50 scholarship grants to qualified beneficiaries among the housing recipients.

Buguey Mayor Lloyd Antiporda said: “Bugueyanos are forever grateful to the CFC-ANCOP for helping the needy and less fortunate members of the town.”

“The LGU will continue to collaborate with CFC-ANCOP for any assistance they can extend to us,” Antiporda said.

Buguey was the first town in Cagayan to avail of the free housing project.  After CFC-ANCOP offered, Buguey provided the lot in Barangay Villa Leonora, where most of the 36 recipient families were located. Other municipalities were offered the same project, but Buguey was the quickest to respond, said Antiporda.

“We only have to thank the organizations and the LGU who made this possible,” recipient Rochell Lunato said, the excitement of living in a decent and safe concrete house showing on her face.

“Typhoon ‘Lawin’ brought down many houses in Cagayan, which further made living conditions difficult especially to children,” said Vanj Padilla, a blogger from a group called Arapang Media in Cagayan.

Celia Pagador added that CFC-Buguey subjected the beneficiaries to a series of orientations, moral recovery and values formation trainings to prepare them for a stronger family foundation.

Eva Antiporda, chairman of the board of the Cagayan Electric Cooperative in Aparri assured the recipients of earlier electrification collection for the new houses.
