FINALLY finding its groove, TNT KaTropa looks to continue rolling as it aims on keeping its climb up the standings in the resumption of the 2017 Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup.
Winners of two straight, the Tropang Texters (4-2) shoot for a third straight win as they will get tested by unpredictable GlobalPort (2-3) at 7 p.m. as the scene shifts to the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
In the appetizer, Blackwater (3-4) looks to bounce back as it faces winless and desperate cellar-dweller Kia (0-7) at 4:15 p.m.
TNT KaTropa started its campaign on a rollercoaster ride, alternating wins and losses, but has since found its mark to slowly but surely move up the ladder.
The Tropang Texters are on a two-game winning streak and should they keep their surge, they will gain solo fifth place and stay in step with the teams above them.
The last time out, TNT dealt the Elite a resounding 117-96 beat down just last Wednesday night as it showed its sharpness.
On the other hand, the inconsistent Batang Pier wasn’t as fortunate in its last outing, bowing to San Miguel Beer, 115-112, in a closely contested battle.
GlobalPort is in a must-win situation as it can’t afford to lose at this juncture if it wants to break into the top eight.
After racking up its franchise-best three-game winning streak, the Elite was sent crashing back to earth by the Tropang Texters.
Still, Blackwater is in a fair position but it needs to get back on track to remain in a strong hunt for a spot in the playoffs.
The Picanto is in desperation mode as it is on a tail-end of a seven-game losing streak as it hasn’t won a single game in the tournament up to this stage.
Its fate is no longer in its hands completely but if it wins its remaining assignments and the stars align, it can still have a distant shot at cracking the top eight.
Kia last lost to GlobalPort, 102-90, last Aug. 20.
Meanwhile, rivals San Miguel Beermen (3-2) and the lowly Alaska Aces (0-6) face each other tomorrow at the Angeles Sports Arena in Pampanga at 5 p.m.
