Globe promises to speed up internet

Globe Telecom Inc. said it expects internet speed to further improve as it aggressively deploys new technologies.

“We will continue to change home broadband with better offers, more data allocation and overall superior experience. We expect Philippine internet to improve further by aggressively deploying leading edge network technology to serve two million homes by 2020 with high-speed internet,” Martha Sazon, senior vice president of Globe At Home, said.

“We are pleased to see the Philippines climbing up to double digit in terms of internet speed. We are optimistic that as home broadband plans become more and more affordable, broadband adoption will grow” Sazon said.

The latest Ookla Speedtest Global Index report showed an average dowbload speed of 12.43 Mbps for fixed internet, as a result of increased investment and the change in the way consumers enjoy video content.

For fixed broadband, the Philippines average download speed rose 57 percent year-on-year to 12.43 Mbps, while the average upload speed accelerated 111 percent to 10.37 Mbps.
