Leaders of Cavite province, led by Gov. Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, former governor Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla Jr and Vice Gov. Ramon “Jolo” Revilla III, recently led the mass oathtaking ceremony of the new members of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan administered by Senate President Koko Pimentel at the Sofitel Hotel Grand Ballroom in Pasay City.
Most political clans in the province were present in the ceremony. They included the Revillas of Bacoor City led by Rep. Strike Revilla, the Ferrers of General Trias City led by Rep. Luis “Jon Jon” Ferrer IV, the Barzagas of Dasmarinas City led by Rep. Jenny Barzaga, the Loyolas of Carmona, the Tolentinos of Tagaytay City led by Rep. Bambol Tolentino, and the Chuas of Cavite City and Noveleta town.
Only one out of Cavite’s 23 mayors and one out of seven congressmen were not present in the oathtaking rites.
Senator Pimentel also led the oath taking of all Cavite board members of the province’s seven districts and all councilors of Cavite led by ex-oficio Board Member Kerby Salazar.
“We see here that Cavite’s leaders are united in one goal, to improve the lives of every Caviteño,” Ferrer said.
Also present at the ceremony were mayors Totie Paredes (Cavite City), Yuri Pacumio (Tanza), Manny Maliksi (Imus), Omil Poblete (Silang), Dr. Dahlia Loyola (Carmona), Eric Vida (Mendez-Nunez), Perfecto Fidel (Indang), Junio Dualan (Naic), and Herminio Lindo (Ternate).
Earlier, Senior Supt. Arthur V. Bisnar, Police Provincial Director, ordered a full-alert status in Cavite ahead of President Duterte’s second State of the Nation Address, in an effort to control protesters heading to Metro Manila from the province.
Bisnar directed police to activate “Strong Security Control Points” in identified major thoroughfares going to Manila, particularly at MCX Daang Hari, Bacoor City, Cavite, Cavitex Kawit, Cavite and Governors Drive in Carmona.
“This is to check individuals and motorists entering Manila and intercept the movement of rallyists and threat groups in order to thwart their planned activities that may disrupt the event,” a Cavite police statement said.
Police assigned to the provincial headquarters were downloaded to the different police stations to complement the deployment of police visibility patrols in places of convergence and other areas of concern.
At least 50 personnel of the Cavite PPO were send to the National Capital Region Police Office to augment the contingent for Civil Disturbance Management at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City, Bisnar said.
The establishment of checkpoints and maximum deployment of police “are just preventive measures,” he added.
Bisnar encouraged Cavite police to be vigilant at all times while they were deployed at their respective posts. Meanwhile, the public was urged to immediately report to the nearest police station or barangay any untoward incidents or threat groups monitored in their areas.
