CV 100 millionth baby gets gift pack

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya—The Population Commission is set to award a gift pack to the province’s 100 millionth symbolic baby this week.

Angelito Obcena, Popcom regional director, said baby Jharley M. Ang has been one of the six symbolic 100 millionth babies born in Cagayan Valley on July 27, 2014 at around 12:06 a.m.

The demographic event highlighted the importance of maternal and neonatal health as well as in promoting Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning, Obcena added.

The  gift pack worth P5,000, he added will be awarded on Friday, July 28, during the opening program of the Provincial and Municipal Population Officers Meeting at the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office in this town.

“We take the lead in ensuring the total well-being of these babies and monitors their status in the context of RPFP as part of our commitment to the attainment of the zero unmet need for modern Family Planning,” he said.

The birth of Ang was witnessed by officials of Popcom, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corp. and the Philippine Information Agency.
