ELITE runners and fun run enthusiasts ruled the first ever PTT Run for Clean Energy recently at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex in Pasay City.
Cindy Lorenzo, a certified elite runner and athlete who has several medals from other major running events took the gold in the women’s 10K category (40:10) followed by two other veteran runners Melanie Bacale and Maricar Camacho.
In men’s category, Rowell Garvero mastered the 10K challenge with 33:05. Coming in second was Emilio Aguinaldo College’s steeplechase athlete Junel Gobotia, trailed by Philippine Army bet Jujet de Asis who had previously competed in the Greatest Race on Earth in Singapore.
In the women’s 5K category, veteran Aileen Tolentino came in first with 14:22 followed by Maria Lyka Sarmiento and Far Eastern University’s Joida Gagnao, with Jhon Ojerio and Evelou Abutas ruling the men’s side.
Nicko Cortes, meanwhile, topped the 3K for men with 9:32 followed by Norbert Cailao and veteran Carlito Fantillaga of Department of Agrarian Reform. For women, Richie Daka clocked in 12:29 for the gold, followed by Jonesa Gamay and De La Salle University’s triathlon team captain Gabriella Venturina settled for third.
PTT Run for Clean Energy is PTT Philippines’ advocacy run as part of its campaign to promote environmental protection and preservation in conjunction with the promotion of its new fuel technology, the Blue Innovation Gasoline and Diesel that has lower emission formula and cleans the car engine that in effect provides greater performance for the vehicle.
PTT Philippines, the local subsidiary of Thailand’s oil and gas giant PTT Public Company Limited, organized the advocacy run in collaboration with Subterranean Ideas Entertainment. It was also supported by PTT Lubricants, Café Amazon, Medicard Foundation, Inc., Leslie’s, Chris Sports, Milcu, National Capital Region Athletic Association, Maynilad, Business Mirror, Sportsmanila.net and the Royal Thai Embassy Manila.
As an added attraction to the event, actor Lester Llansang graced the awarding ceremony while ABS-CBN newcomer Francinne Rifol rendered a couple of songs for the participants who were also treated to a raffle with a runner from Taytay bringing home a mountain bike. Others received smart phones, watches, and freebies.
