Public Works Secretary Mark Villar, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno and Manny Pangilinan, chairman of Metro Pacific Corp. on Monday led the groundbreaking of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (Calax).
Also present during the ceremony were Cavite Gov. Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, Laguna Gov. Ramil Hernandez, Laguna Rep. Arlene Arcillas, Sta. Rosa Mayor Dan Fernandez, and provincial board members of Cavite’s seven districts.
Calax is a 44.20-kilometer four-lane closed-system toll expressway connecting the existing Cavite Expressway (Cavitex) and South Luzon Expressway (SLEX).
CALAX will start from the CAVITEX exit in Kawit, Cavite and end at the SLEX-Mamplasan Interchange in Biñan, Laguna. The project will have eight interchanges – at Kawit, Open Canal, Governor’s Drive, Aguinaldo Highway, Silang East, Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay Rd., Laguna Blvd., and Technopark.
