LINGAYEN, Pangasinan—The Sangguniang Panlalawigan, in its regular session held on June 5 here, has authorized Gov. Amado I. Espino III via Provincial Resolution No. 765-2017 to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Masz Corporations Limited at the Philippine National Railways for the implementation of the PNR-Pangasinan Railway and Land Development Project in the province.
The said MoU to be signed is intended to establish cooperation and partnership collaboration with the Masz Corporations, a private company registered in Hong Kong that offers a full-range of construction-related services including railway project, and the PNR to develop a commuter rail link from various points of the cities and towns in Pangasinan and the development of the province’s available land resources.
Resolution author, board member Generoso Tulagan, Jr. bared the said project when implemented “would usher in tremendous boost to the province’s economic development by providing better opportunities for local employment and livelihood, and increase the exchange of trade and commerce from the eastern to the western parts of the province.”
Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Benita Pizarro added that the PPRLDP which is projected to become a flagship project in Pangasinan aims to provide ease in the movement of people and the produce of the province as it shall connect the three component cities—Alaminos, San Carlos and Urdaneta—and the lone charter city of Dagupan, and the main towns of the province.
“The project also intends to explore the potentials of other projects which could be developed in the province,” Pizarro added.
Earlier, a team from PNR and Masz Corporations Limited visited prospect locations for the project which will be subjected to feasibility study.
Along with Governor Espino, signatories of the MOU include Masz Corporations Limited President Li Li and PNR Chairman Roberto Lastimoso.
