2nd ID sows 2,000 trees at Capinpin

TANAY, Rizal—The Philippine Army’s 2nd Infantry Division planted more than 2,000 fruit-bearing and nonfruit-bearing trees inside Camp Capinpin here on Thursday in aid of the government’s National Greening Program.

Various civic groups like the Rotary Clubs in the area were also tapped by the division to increase awareness on the need to protect and rehabilitate the environment through massive tree planting. 

Major Gen. Rhoderick Parayno, commander of the 2nd ID, stressed the importance of the undertaking. “As much as we protect our people and our sovereignty, we also have to protect our environment for the benefit of everyone and of the coming generations,” he said.
