CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna—Calabarzon Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Ma. O Ranada Aplasca showed his support to the 575 Civil Disturbance Management contingent from here as he gave them pointers during their predeployment briefing and sendoff ceremony Thursday for the Asean Summit.
During the ceremony, Senior Supr. Ronnie S. Montejo, Chief of the Regional Plans and Operations Division, discussed the CDM force’s standard operation procedures for the Asean meet. Supt. Ramy Tagnong, Chief of the Legal Service, tackled salient points on arrests, the observation of human rights and other matters, while Supt. Julius Cruz, Chief of the Regional Pastoral Office, led the sendoff prayer and blessed the contingents.
“Remember that this is not an ordinary event. The world and the international media is watching us so we should perform the best we can,” Aplasca said. “I hope that with the reminders you heard today, you will observe and put it to practice. I have instructed my staff to be in constant communication with your team leaders so we could easily address your concerns.”
The CDM personnel from Police Regional Office 4A will augment the force that was earlier positioned in the different areas of Metro Manila, to ensure the safe and successful visit of delegates from Asean member countries—their leaders, ministers, their respective spouses, and other delegates.
PRO4A CDM Contingents included personnel from the Provincial Police Offices of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, and the Regional Public Safety Battalion 4A. It also included personnel from the Medical Division, Investigation, Human Rights Affairs Office, and Public Information Office. The ceremony ended with a boodle fight.
