Smart posts fastest LTE service–study

Smart Communications Inc. delivered the fastest long-term evolution service in the country, surpassing that of rival Globe Telecom Inc., according to a study by J.P. Morgan.

J.P. Morgan said in an April 2017 report that based on the actual mobile experience of OpenSignal app users, Smart “leads in overall LTE download speeds and at regional levels.” The OpenSignal app enables mobile data users to run their own speed tests.

Smart averaged 11.76 Mbps in Metro Manila compared to Globe’s 7.65 Mbps. In South Luzon, Smart averaged 8.56 Mbps, while Globe had  7.01 Mbps and in the Visayas, Smart had 10.42 Mbps and Globe had 7.75 Mbps.

Aside from beating competition in the LTE arena, Smart also improved its average LTE speeds in all areas covered by the study.
