Facebook accounts that are so damn relatable

As you were absent-mindedly browsing through your newsfeed on Facebook, a post, one of your friends shared, caught your attention. It was funny, witty and made you say,  “That’s me.” You then checked the page that made the original post and checked its previous entries. Some of them made you smile, many made you laugh. Then you hit “like” and and became a subscriber.

This is currently the trend that’s sweeping Facebook in the Philippines these days. These FB accounts are raking in thousands of likes, comments and shares from users who can relate to their posts.

One of which is the Facebook page Filipino Tweets That Matter. Created only on January 30, 2017, FTTM already has 700,000 plus total page likes, as of this writing. It reposts tweets submitted by Filipino Twitter users that matter to Filipinos or that are viral.

“Boosting the page’s name within a month by featuring tweets relevant to what’s viral (e.g. The Miss Universe Competition in the Philippines, The Jollibee Valentine Series, among others), FTTM reached 500,000 subscribers on Facebook and 10,000 on Twitter,” the account said on its website www.filipinotweetsthatmatter.com.

Most of the recent posts are under the themes of Pinoy culture, crush, and unrequited love. The topics discussed are things that young adults can relate to, primarily because most of the featured tweets are by young Twitter users.

Another FB account, whose posts are most likely being shared by your friends recently, is Design Pirate PH. Founded by Em Martin, the page has become popular with its hugot posters (one or two sentences laid out on a complementing photo), and currently boasts over 500,000 page likes.

The page started with relatable hugot posts about situations employees experience—such as working overtime, being overwhelmed with so many projects and the tedious waiting game for pay day—and has grown to tackle other topics like unrequited and lost love, failed fitness goals, and traffic problems, among others.

These two Facebook accounts have succeeded in spreading messages that resonate with the masses, especially the millennial social media users.
