TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan—The provincial government has proposed to the Regional Development Council a P5-million feasibility fund for a study on the Tupang-Afusing bridge project in Alcala town here.
The RDC has forwarded the proposal to Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Director Melanio Briosos for the immediate release of the fund.
Earlier, Gov. Manuel Mamba declared the approval of the budget for the construction of the Nassipping-Dungao bridge, which is projected to benefit residents from both the northeastern and western municipalities of the province, as it will greatly reduce travel time through Cagayan, and for farmers to easily transport their products to markets.
Mary-Anne ER. Darauay, regional director of the National Economic and Development Authority and acting chair of RDC-2, said the Tupang-Afusing bridge will benefit Cagayanos in the adjacent towns it will traverse.
The provincial government endorsed five more proposed bridges to the RDC—the Anguiray-Pacac bridge in Amulung, Nassiping-Dungao bridge in Gattaran, Camalaniugan-Allacapan bridge, Toran-Paruddun bridge in Aparri, and the Solana-Bagay bridge in this city, Mamba added.
“When these bridges will be completed, they will help in the progress of inter-municipal and inter-provincial access, trade and commerce leading to the province’s socio-economic transformation,” Mamba stressed.
