The network war between two rival networks has gone on to the universe.
Both the Kapamila and Kapuso networks, citing figures from their subscribed survey data providers, claim the bigger number of audience.
ABS-CBN, swearing by Kantar Media’s figures, proclaimed that more Filipinos across the archipelago watched the 65th Miss Universe pageant on channel 2.
Naurally, the Kapuso network relied on the overnight data of National Urban TV Audience Measurement (NUTAM), which said GMA 7 had the bigger audience during the beauty contest’s telecast last Monday morning.
The Kapamilya network said its coverage, according to Kantar, hit a national TV rating of 27.4 percent, or 10 points higher than GMA’s telecast, which only registered 17 percent.
Still citing Kantar, it claimed audience in Mega Manila and Metro Manila also followed the journey of Miss Universe-Philippines Maxine Medina, who made it to the top 6, on ABS-CBN. The Kapamilya network recorded a TV rating of 28.2 percent versus GMA’s 23.7 percent in Mega Manila, while it hit 30.8 percent versus GMA’s 19.4 percent in Metro Manila.
The 65th Miss Universe pageant will be replayed on Sunday in Sunday’s Best.
On the other hand, the Kapuso network, citing what it claims as the industry’s widely-trusted ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement, said it won in NUTAM ratings with an average household audience share of 57.7 percent, higher than ABS-CBN’s 28.5 percent and TV5’s 7.5 percent.
Kapuso viewers will have the chance to relive the exciting moment with the 65th Miss Universe grand coronation this Sunday.
Now, with two different survey providers used, it is but natural that both networks claim leadership in whatever telecast. So, folks, which survey do you think should we believe? I guess if you are a Kapamilya follower you’d go for Kantar, or if you’re a Kapuso fan you’d swear by NUTAM.
The rivalry will never end.
