Happiness is a gift of a radio for woman, 79

BALANGA, Bataan—In this age of digital technology, some “old” things just make people happy.

A local radio station, 91.1 Sikat FM, has fulfilled the birthday wish of a 79-year-old woman to have a transistor radio.

Gloria Morales, a resident of Barangay Wawa in Pilar town, was accompanied by her son Norberto when she received the transistor radio from Elias Almelor of the program “Ka Elias Live” at the radio station at the 2nd floor of Jadevine Building along Capitol Drive here.

Station manager Noel Gatacelo, along with this writer as anchorman of Sikat FM’s “Radyo Balita” program, witnessed Morales receiving the radio donated by Dr. Mer Dizon Optical.

Almelor found out that Morales had to go to a neighbor to listen to a cellphone with an FM radio, as she had none of her own.

“Through the neighbor, the old woman is a regular texter to my program, and I learned about her plight,” Almelor said.

Norberto Morales cried as he saw his mother receiving the radio. “You made her very happy,” he said.
