New SSS President faces graft case

The group Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) has filed a graft case against the newly-appointed head of the Social Security System (SSS).

In a complaint filed at the Ombudsman on Monday morning, VACC accused new SSS Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel Dooc of alleged failure to enforce a circular mandating reinsurance reporting at the Insurance Commission (IC) back when he was still the Insurance Commissioner.

Steel Corporation, a top manufacturer of coated flat steel, is also a complainant in the case.

President Duterte named Dooc to the SSS post last November 16, 2016.

Dooc replaced Emilio de Quiros.

He is also a member of the Anti-Money Laundering Council.
