Senator Leila De Lima is participating in the ongoing Senate Committee on Public Order’s inquiry on the death of Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa.
The hearing is also being attended by her former security aide Ronnie Dayan and alleged drug lord Kerwin Espinosa.
De Lima grilled PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa on the relief of Supt. Marvin Marcos, head of the unit of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) involved in the killing of Mayor Espinosa while in detention.
After posing questions to Marcos, De Lima shifted to asking about personalities whom she suspects of meddling in the issues relating to Dayan and Kerwin Espinosa.
She told Dela Rosa, “we see you as a good person, as a good man. Pero baka may nakapaligid sa inyo (but there may be persons surrounding you).”
She then asked the PNP Chief for the names of police officers who fetched Kerwin Espinosa in Abu Dhabi.
“Ano ang ginagawa ni Sanda Cam sa Abu Dhabi (what is Sandra Cam doing in Abu Dhabi)? Is she your representative?” she asked.
Dela Rosa replied, “no, your honor.”
Cam is in the audience watching the Senate proceeding.
Senator Vicente Sotto III asked Senate Committee Chairman Panfilo Lacson what role Cam might have.
Lacson said, Cam is president of the Whistleblowers Association of the Philippines.
