THE recently concluded of Asia Pacific Hairdressers & Cosmetologists Association (APHCA) at the SMX Mall of Asia saw beauty experts from 15 Asia Pacific countries showcasing their originality and flair in a series of visually impressive competitions.
The whole day affair was attended by more than 3000 people, and judging was conducted by international delegates from the member countries.
Founder and APHCA President Ricky Reyes said, “The standards at this year’s competition were, once again, incredibly high – I personally was impressed by the inventiveness and creativity of the entries. This event gave our beauty practitioners an amazing platform to be creative with the knowledge they developed at heir own workplace throughout the years.”
The ambience at this year’s extravaganza was truly electric, as models showcased an array of remarkable looks – from a beautiful peacock, dazzling princesses, radiant geishas and warriors, to an array of stunning brides.
Winners in this year’s annual competition in the corresponding categories are: Men’s Cut & Blow DryTaiwan; Avant Garde-China; Evening Party Makeup-Hong Kong; Bridal Makeup-Macau; Total Look-Taiwan; Evening Party Hairstyle-Taiwan and Nail Art-Philippines.
Over-all champion was Macau taking home P35,000 with trophy and a trip to Hong Kong.
Reyes turned over the APHCA flag to South Korean country leader Eung Soo Kang. The country will host the 21st Hair Olympics next year.
The most anticipated beauty event also featured seminars and workshops and a trade fair of over 50 booths featuring local and international beauty items from participating APHCA member countries.
A spectacular show was featured with the APHCA delegation from Korea, China, Japan, Thailand and the Philippines, which showcased their native cultural dances in a unique and dazzling way and heartthrob Alden Richards serenaded the guests with a special song number.
