THE La Salle Green Archers’ deep roster is a big worry for the Ateneo Blue Eagles when they come out of a 10-day break today in the 79th University Athletic Association of the Philippines men’s basketball tournament.

This is why the Blue Eagles will not take things take things lightly when they face their rivals at 4 p.m. today at the Araneta Coliseum.

“We hope to have more players, who will step up,” said Blue Eagles’ coach Arespacochaga.

Arespacochaga said many players have stepped upon their last two victories with Jolo Mendoza, Raffy Verano, and Isaac Go taking charge to complement the efforts of veterans Thirdy Ravena, Anton Asistio, and Aaron Black.

The Blue Eagles have a solid foothold in third spot.

Meanwhile, National University, which is hanging on to fifth place at 4-7, meets lowly  University of the East Red Warriors at 12 noon.

Playing better and adding to their six won games in 10 outings will assure Ateneo of a seat to the Final Four semifinals.

Last week, the Green Archers showed how strong they have become when they routed the UE Red Warriors, 95-66 victory.

With that win, they have won four  12 straight games, they are, two victories away from an elims sweep.

The Green Archers were led by Ben Mbala with 26 points, 20 rebounds, and four blocks.

Jeron Teng supported him and added 20 markers while Thomas Torres chipped in 11.
