Typhoon ‘Lawin’ moves away from Philippines

PAGASA expects typhoon ‘Lawin’ to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday night.

As of 10 am, ‘Lawin’ has weakened and is now off the coast of Ilocos Norte, moving away from the country.

It was located 100 kilometers west northwest of Laoag City in Ilocos Norte.

It packs maximum sustained winds of 150 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph.

The typhoon is moving west northwest at 21 kph.

Signal Number 2 is up over Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Abra, Ilocos Sur and Calayan Group of Islands.

Signal Number 1 is up over Batanes Group of Islands, Cagayan, Kalinga, Isabela, Quirino, Northern Aurora, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, La Union, Pangasinan and Northern Zambales.
