Police arrests 40 suspects

More than 40 suspected crime offenders including 13 alleged drug users and pushers were arrested by the Malabon police in a “one-time, bigtime” anti-crime operation in five barangays on Tuesday night.

The Northern Police District reported that the operation was joined by 164 operatives headed by  Police Chief Insp. Lucio Simangan and the   District Public Safety Battalion who raided barangays  Longos, Anonas, Baritan, Taniong and Hulong Duhat.

Among those arrested were Abelardo Agustin, 56; Renato Hallari, 42; Jeffrey Dayrit, 34; Angelo Piolo, 25; Karen Dela Cruz, 37; Christina Fernando, 28; Anjeneth Riello, 17; Joan Domingo, 46; Abraham Mariano, 22; Crisanto Gripon, 45; Ronaldo Solidum; Ferdie Santos; and Rudy Reyes.

Seven persons–Mark Angelo Rodriguez (attempted murder suspect), Leonardo Borenada (child abuse suspect), Crisanto Gripon (illegal drugs suspect), Mary Grace Sapinoso (slight physical injuries suspect), Leonard Ubal (slight physical injuries suspect), Alexander Marquez (illegal drugs suspect) and   Manuel Ibot (attempted murder suspect)–were served arrest warrants.

Jayson Malones, 32, and Michael Francisco were accosted for carrying a firearm replica while a number of persons were also arrested for disobeying the city ordinance against half-nakedness.

Malabon City Police commander Senior Supt. John Chua said no casualty was recorded during the operation.
