Be ahead of your class

As another school year starts, another door full of opportunities opens to help you get closer to your dreams. However, it also means that a year full of cramming and sleepless nights is ahead of you.

McJim believes that a gentleman’s style is defined by subtle details

If you look at the bright side, it’s also the time to see your old buddies and meet new ones. What’s even better is it’s another full year of preparation for your future career in the real world.

But if you’re still feeling nervous for the year ahead, what better way to crank up more enthusiasm for the serious business of studying than the prospect of wearing your best first-day-in-school look?

Whether you want to keep your signature style or pop up in class as a new you, making an extra effort to look great will surely give you the confidence boost you need to do better in school.

McJim’s advice to young men who are preparing for the real world is to make an extra effort to look their best in order to gain confidence

Because fashion styles can be tricky, you want to stand out without being too flashy. McJim is well aware of this and reminds you that a gentleman’s style is defined by subtle details.

In fact, you don’t need a wardrobe makeover to update your look. McJim suggests investing in quality apparel, footwear, and accessories that reflect your fine values as a young man.

Even when you’re simply clad in the basics—jeans, t-shirt, and sneakers—you can use classic and classy accessories such as belts, wallets, and bags made from authentic leather.

“We take pride that our products are made from genuine leather, which are all classic and durable. McJim has been in the market for decades and we continue to offer products that different generations would love—from businessmen to students preparing for their careers in the real world,” McJim Classic Leather said in an official statement. “Wear something basic and pair it with McJim then you’ll definitely stand out.”

McJim aims to inspire young men to dress for success

For instance, pair your chino pants or basic school uniform with a good leather belt and stand out in the crowd. McJim, with its wide selection of dress belts and casual belts, will always have one that will suit your agenda—a school fair, a college conference, or any random day in your student life.

“McJim belts are simply stylish and you know it is made from genuine leather. It’s a Filipino brand but it is not cheap looking unlike poor imitations,” said Joshua Lucas, an incoming senior majoring in Communication. “My dad has been using it for years and they always look new and attractive even after many years.”

‘Food Hero’ season 3 raises bar

Asian Food Channel and Food Network’s hunt for the next food host is expected to draw fierce competition across Asia-Pacific.

The digitally enabled competition expects to surpass past seasons’ participation numbers and increase engagement among food lovers in the region

On May 23, the search for the region’s best home cook and host kicked off in Asia as Food Hero returned for its third season. Building on the momentum and success of previous seasons, the digitally-enabled competition will look to crown one winner who will go on to host his or her own Asian Food Channel and/or Food Network program.

“As the leader in lifestyle programming with two dedicated regional channels focused on food, we are always looking to grow our pool of on-air and digital talent. Continuing the Food Hero competition is not only a great platform to uncover fresh talent, it is also a great way for our viewers to connect through the common passion point: the love for food,” said Carl Zuzarte, senior vice president of Programming and Production at Scripps Networks Interactive, Asia-Pacific.

Food Hero 2016 – How to participate

Interested participants can download the Food Hero mobile app from either Google Play (Android users), or App Store (Apple users).

After downloading, participants will be prompted to register in order to sign in.

The mobile app provides instructional videos and tips on how to shoot and submit a winning entry. Participants can also draw inspiration from various recipes from past contestants and watch previous Food Hero winners share their food stories.

Participants can record entries that best demonstrate their cooking and hosting skills.

They can then upload their video entries and also view submissions of other participants.

Submission of entries ends on Aug. 21 (three months from the beginning of the entry submission period), at which point a panel comprised of production and creative experts will evaluate the entries based on each participant’s personality, on-screen appeal and creativity in producing original and engaging content. Top entries will be shortlisted for participation in a series of culinary and travel-related challenges to better evaluate them in ‘live’ scenarios.

Winners all

Last year, Ili Sulaiman from Malaysia and Debbie Wong from Hong Kong overcame fierce competition and were crowned Food Hero 2015 champions, joining the likes of TV hosts Sarah Benjamin (Singapore) and Michele Lean (Malaysia) who won the first edition of the competition.

“The moment I realized I wanted to make a career out of food was probably when I saw Martin Yan on TV and I remember thinking that’s exactly what I want to be. Someone who’s passionate about food and sharing their food story with the world,” said Wong, who has since hosted a number of Food Network productions like Food Wars Asia Season 2 and Kitchen Quickies.

“I took part the first time around and I didn’t get through but being the winner for Food Hero last year has opened many doors for me and given me the confidence to host my own shows and better run my own establishment,” said Sulaiman who owns ‘DISH by Ili’, a food delivery service providing wholesome and nutritious meals in Malaysia.
