Woodcraft

Lola Alvina, 68 years old, and her husband, sculpt pestle made of mango wood along the highway of Sta. Cruz in Davao del Sur on Monday, Feb. 8. The couple also makes chopping boards, serving trays, figurines,  and sungka  for more than three decades. Arching, sculpting and carving wood are  the most accessible means of livelihood for locals in the area. Mortar-and-pestle combo costs from P35  to P500. OMAR MANGORSI
